Delta Sand & Gravel and Delta Construction are both extremely proud of the community we have helped to build since 1927. Our mission has always been to create rock solid foundations for the structures we live in, for the roads we travel and for the lives of the people who use each one of them. That’s why we volunteer and donate to events and organizations that make positive impacts in Lane County.
Community Events
Ducks Unlimited Annual Banquet
Those who know the Babb family and the Delta team, know that we love the land we work with every day, and that we care about preserving the natural life that we share it with. For this reason, we partner with Ducks Unlimited (DU). Our partnership has resulted in the construction and maintenance of wood duck nesting boxes and goose nesting perches along the filtration ponds at the back of our property.
On March 30, we were excited to sponsor a table at the Eugene/Springfield/Junction City Ducks Unlimited Annual Banquet where eight of our managers celebrated building a strong biological foundation in Oregon.
We are grateful to have the opportunity to partner with organizations such as DU on collaborative wetlands protection efforts. View more of the great work they do by visiting the Ducks Unlimited website.
Learning and Career Day for Lane County high school students
The future of the local construction and aggregate industries depends on the education of our youth about the value of special trades. Delta offers internship opportunities in the construction management or engineering fields for college juniors and seniors. We are also excited to host more events like the Learning and Career Day we held on April 5 in partnership with Knife River, Wildish, Eugene Sand & Gravel and Elevate Lane County.
During this event, 60 juniors and seniors from Lane County high schools toured the Delta Sand & Gravel aggregate plant and Knife River concrete production facilities. Our experienced staff educated students in aggregate material production and construction, and introduced them to the job opportunities in our growing industry. The event was featured in KVAL’s Skilled to Work series, promoting the value of working in trades.
Annual Party for the Relief Nursery
The Relief Nursery helps to protect children in our community from abuse and neglect by strengthening families with the support services they need. We are passionate about helping such an important part of our community thrive, and one of the ways we show our commitment is to sponsor and donate to the Relief Nursery’s Annual Event.
For more than seven years, Delta has sponsored or donated to the Relief Nursery’s annual party. This year Delta sponsored the band, Precious Byrd, for the event’s after party. At our table were seated community members who were excited about providing direct donations or purchasing auction items to support the Relief Nursery.

Family Concert: Lemony Snicket’s The Composer is Dead!
Music brings joy to our lives, and Delta is in full support of bringing more music and joy to our families and yours. Last month we sponsored the Eugene Symphony’s inaugural Family Concert: “Lemony Snicket’s The Composer is Dead.” This event encouraged Lane County families to experience the joy of music and learn more about the Eugene Symphony.
As a family-friendly concert, the afternoon featured two showings of a musical performance based on Daniel Handler’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” Prior to the concert, attendees were invited to participate in free educational activities including an Instrument Petting Zoo, an art-themed Hult Center scavenger hunt and a prop-filled photo booth. The show then featured a hilarious inspector, a missing composer and a whole lot of musical fun.
Thank you to our Community Activities Committee
We are excited about the work we are doing in wetlands protection and within the Eugene-Springfield community, and we want to do more of that good work in the future. A huge part of that effort will be done by our 2018 Community Activities Committee. A huge thank you to our committee members: Brent Mobley (Construction Manager), Mike Harrison (Estimator), and Bill Rhoads (Concrete Superintendent), who helped to organize these sponsorships and other volunteer projects, and who will help us to stay involved in 2018. We’re looking forward to the events to come!
